Which should you buy?

Buy the Holy Panda X if you want the reference tactile feel and a satisfying thock, and noise is not a concern; it remains the switch other tactiles are measured against and is worth the price for a board you will use for years. Buy the Boba U4 Silent if you type in a shared office or near sleeping family and need tactile feedback without the clack; it preserves a sharp bump despite full silencing, which most silent switches cannot. Feel is close; the sound profile decides it.

Common questions

Does silencing the Boba U4 weaken the bump?

No, and that is its main achievement. Most silent switches mute the sound by softening the bottom-out, which dulls the bump. The Boba U4 Silent keeps a sharp, defined tactile bump while still cutting noise sharply, which is why it is the top silent tactile recommendation.

Which lube do these switches need?

If you hand-lube either, use a thin tactile lube rather than a thick linear lube, so you reduce friction without masking the bump. A thick linear grease on a tactile will flatten the feel of both the Holy Panda X and the Boba U4.

Which is better for an office?

The Boba U4 Silent, without question. The Holy Panda X is loud by design and will carry across a quiet room. The Boba gives you the tactile feedback you want without disturbing coworkers.
